Dr. May Anne E. Mata, guest speaker for the 41st-anniversary celebration of the DOST-PCHRD with the theme, "PCHRD Beyond XL: Transforming Healthcare Through Digitalization."
The conference highlighted the most recent trends, technologies, and innovations that will shape the future of the healthcare industry where speakers presented their thoughts and viewpoints on a variety of topics, ranging from AI-powered diagnostics and personalized medicine to telemedicine and health app development. Dr. May Anne E. Mata discussed the significant impact of the RabCast and RabDash DC projects, both funded by the DOST-PCHRD, and how the projects actively engaged and collaborated with the CVO and stakeholders to find better ways to address the rabies situation and transform the research ecosystem in the region in line with the goal of contributing to a rabies-free Philippines by the year 2030. |

STOP Rabies Conducts Crafting of Policy Brief Workshop11 January 2020
STOP Rabies conducted a Crafting of Policy Briefs and IEC Materials Write-Shop held on 9-11 January 2020 at Davao Medical School Foundation. With speakers Dr. Ma. Esmeralda Silva and Dr. Buenalyn Teresita Ramos-Mortel, the workshop aimed to equip the STOP Rabies program member with skills and principles essential in writing an effective policy brief and preparation of IEC materials to be able to disseminate significant findings in such a way that it will be understandable by the intended audiences.

Dr. Murao Presents STOP Rabies Research Updates in the PSM 24th Mindanao Convention and Scientific Meeting29 November 2019
Dr. Lyre Anni E. Murao, program leader of the STOP Rabies program, presented the research updates of the program in the 24th Philippine Society for Microbiology - Mindanao Convention and Scientific Meeting held on 28-29 November 2019 at General Santos City. With the theme “Moving Mindanao Towards Sustainable Development Through Microbiology,” this event is geared towards finding solutions and applying research output to address gaps in different environmental and societal issues using green technology. It also highlights topic discussions on health and environment.

STOP Rabies program and government agencies, Davao CVO, Davao CHO, and DA XI, conducted a collaborative meeting for future directions in eliminating rabies in Davao City with Dr. Maria Nerissa N. Dominguez, Technical Officer from WHO. The meeting was conducted on March 26, 2019 at Sunny Point Hotel, Davao City.

The STOP Rabies program hosted a Media Launch to expand partnership with other stakeholders and reinforce the support for the program. The guest speaker, Dr. Maria Nerissa N. Dominguez, Technical Officer from WHO, talked about the Rabies Updates in the Philippines. STOP Rabies team leaders also presented the initial results of the research program.
STOP Rabies Program at the CSM Research Colloquium

Last December 17, 2018 at Davao Eagle Ridge Resort, the UP Mindanao College of Science and Mathematics (CSM) conducted its annual Research Colloquium to educate and exemplify the different fields of research conducted by the faculty of CSM to agencies like Bureau of Plant Industry, Department of Environment and Natural Resources, Davao City Health Office, and Department of Agriculture. Aside from these government agencies, research partners and colleagues from Assumption College of Davao, Davao Doctors College, and Rizal Memorial Colleges were also present.

The Commission on Higher Education delivered the good news of the project’s successful application to Discovery-Applied Research and Extension for Trans/Inter-disciplinary Opportunities (DARE TO) Grant last May 25, 2018. Moreover, Dr. Lyre Anni Murao, together with Ms. Sheryl Grace Buenaventura, accepted the invitation of CHED for an Onboarding Seminar at Manila Grand Opera Hotel on June 7, 2018. The seminar aimed to provide knowledge and understanding in the administrative and operational management, grant regulations, financial procedures, and technical components of the STOP Rabies project such as accomplishments monitoring, evaluation, and reporting. Fortunately, the learnings and insights from the seminar were greatly implemented throughout the days of the research.
